The Sika 1888 Restaurant, Omagh
When searching for the perfect place to eat in Omagh, The Sika 1888 Restaurant stands out as a must-visit destination. Situated within the Cedar Country Hotel, this restaurant offers an unforgettable dining experience, not only due to its culinary excellence but also its picturesque surroundings. Nestled close to one of Northern Ireland’s top tourist attractions, The Ulster American Folk Park, The Sika 1888 Restaurant is the ideal spot to relax after a day of exploring. The restaurant boasts panoramic views of the stunning countryside, with every seat in the house offering a perfect vantage point to take in the beauty of the Baronscourt Estate and the rolling Sperrin Mountains.
The hotel is surrounded by the forests of Baronscourt Estate and is the home of Ireland’s finest wild venison, situated in the foothills of the famous Sperrin Mountains in County Tyrone. The herd of Japanese Sika deer were initially introduced into a deer park in 1751, but since 1920 they have existed wild on the Estate.
The 1888 comes from the opening date of the old school house which still remains part of the hotel building. You will therefore notice the original high ceilings and stunning, restored windows. While renovating, we also found the school's original well which you can find in the middle of the car park.
At The Sika 1888, their focus is on championing local suppliers and using only the freshest ingredients. The menu changes regularly, reflecting the best of each season’s offerings and keeping diners coming back to try something new. Whether you’re in the mood for the restaurant's famed wild venison from the Baronscourt Estate’s herd of Japanese Sika deer, or a more classic dish, you will find yourself spoilt for choice.
The Sika 1888 is dedicated to ensuring that all guests enjoy their meal. They offer a wide range of dietary accommodations, including Gluten-Free, Vegetarian, Dairy-Free, Vegan, and Soya-Free options. Simply let the staff know how they can make your dining experience perfect for you.
